A Personal Opinion on Autism.

I can think of no way this could possibly go badly.

Ok, screw that, I can think of no way this could possibly not go badly.

Here is a picture of Jenny McCarthy.  Because as the face of autism and bullshit science she should be involved in this discussion.
Picture scavenged from usmagazine.com

The last several years have been cursed with discussions about autism, and the autism spectrum, and Asperger's, and vaccines, and Jenny McCarthy.  The conclusion I can draw from this is that autism is caused by breast implants.  Ironically the numbers of breast implants is up about 50% since 2000, and those women must be having more sex, and having more children than normal women, resulting in these huge autism numbers.

But enough about that.  What I am actually here to talk about is why we should not give a shit.

Asperger's is in a nutshell the inability to deal with the subtleties of human communication.  I will give you a quick summary of the portion of human communication in question.  Asperger's people can't deal with the fact that you are all a bunch of lying pieces of shit.

Dealing with things like exaggeration, little white lies, other crap I can't think of right now.  Fuck that.

You want us to tell you want you want to hear, even if it isn't true.

Fuck that too.

I like facts.  I like figures.  I like pure data I can disseminate.

I like mathematics.

I like calculating prime numbers in binary and looking at the patterns.

You want me to tell you that your hideous eyebrows look just fine.  Your ass isn't quite so wide today as yesterday.  Dinner was delicious.  The project will be finished tomorrow.  You are a wonderful teacher who knows how to motivate students.

It is not the people who have Asperger's who have the problem, it is the rest of the world that has a problem with people who have Asperger's.  You don't want to know the truth.

You can't cook, you look like shit, you have the reasoning abilities of a deceased snail, I am not finishing the project because you will change your mind about its need before I finish it anyway, and if you learned how to teach you would not have to enforce mandatory attendance in your classroom.

People telling each other the truth is a lost art.  People do not like to know what you actually think.  They want fluff.  Jenny McCarthy likely didn't like that her kid told her that they were afraid that her breasts were going to explode and kill us all.  She didn't like to hear that her logic on Autism and Vaccination was based on junk science that she was incapable of understanding anyway.

This is why she is complaining about Autism and Asperger's.  The truth hurts.

Get used to it.
