Playing that sickly addictive 2048 game...

Have you ever wondered how awesome your strategy was?  It may not be as good as your think.  I decided to play the game with just patterns of keystrokes to see what I would get, here are my results.

Up and the right, left if I needed to break a stalemate....

6624
3540
2060
3324
1064

It wasn't the best, but not bad....

Left up right...

1576
3028
480
1532
1612

That one got a lot of things stuck with inequality between the side shifts and the up shifts...

left up right up.....

5792
3524
3940
6584
2364

Other than that last game these were pretty good, the best of the five methods I tested....

Around the world.... left up right down....

3252
2808
1724
696
1328

Lots of stuff got stuck in the middle, looked kind of like a rock tumbler...

Random keystrokes...

1332
760
2532
2360
2400

Pretty fast, but not that great...

The end result is that the best methods seem to have either equality with the up shifts and right left shifts...  Constantly building towards one corner is not bad either, but you have a tendency to get stuck.

I decided to try one more pattern, up up right (left when I need to break a stalemate)....

1492
1888
1632
2080
3456

Not as good as I had hoped, but not as bad as I had feared.  Seemed to be at least consistently bad with out the random score in the sub-thousand range.

Here is a video of the game!
