Windows 10 preview

I hope this gets faster than it has been so far....

OK, I am rather critical of everything Microsoft, but I am going to give this a try, I am installing Windows 10 technical preview.  Now mostly I am installing this to see what it takes to break it, and what needs to be done to get around some of the many annoyances that Windows comes with.  But...  Some people may find this interesting.  Right now it is still going through the process of seeing what the hell it needs to install, considering that I am running a laptop that was specifically designed to suck balls on Windows 8 it shouldn't need much.

Of course, it is Windows.

Update 1:

We are still stuck at the "Making Sure you're ready it Install" screen....

Ok, 30 minutes at that screen later I killed the task....  Maybe I have to try this from outside of Windows to make it work, wonder if the disk is bootable.

Ok, another half hour of watching the windows with its rotating dingleballs....  Time to see if this is a bootable disk.  I created a partition for it to install too....

Update 2:

I booted from the DVD and got it installed, as it the new windows norm once it is installed you ahve the permissions you need to go online and look at cat pictures.

These are the only permissions you have.

Do not ask for any more than this.

This is not acceptable, so I have now booted back into Windows 8 as you do not have permissions to do anything from Windows 10, which actually took running msconfig and changing the boot settings because as is the new Windows default it tries to take over every aspect of your life....  But now I am changing all file permissions and ownership so that I can fix a few things and try to make it acceptable.

Remember when computers were designed so we could get more done?

Update 3:

I tried to log in, I had a black screen....

I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, I got this...

That is all....  Hmmm, I am going to do some messing around and then try again, but it should at least try to boot, or maybe give me an error message?

Update 4:

Ok, the only way to send feedback is through the Windows Insider App....

How do I get there when the f'n thing wont even boot?

Happy New Year!

Ok, happy, ugh....

I just don't get it, but anywho...

I have two classes left of school.

No really, just two, and this is just for my minor, which of course means I have forgotten almost everything I was learning for my BS, but this is the American university system showing exactly why it doesn't work.

But this is a new year, an I want to get some things accomplished.  First I need to blow the crud out of the fireplace as we have been kind of abusing out supply of the really dirty/creates tons of heat stuff in the last few days.

I was trying to take advantage of some clear skies as well and take some photos of various objects in the night sky, but clear skies also equate to cold weather and trying to take photos when it is well below zero is less than fun.  Especially long exposure photos.

I did get a couple...
This is looking towards Polaris, The cigar galaxy (M82), Bode's Nebula (M81) and the little galaxy ngc 3077.
These are the three "stars" that make up the scabbard of Orion, the middle star is actually a galactic star factory made up of many young stars and gassy nebulousness.  The large area is M42, the little reddish ball just above it is M43.

I intent to go out and get some more pictures as the weeks drag on, but it will depend on the weather.  If it was clear and 40 degrees I could stay out all night.  However, clear, breezy, and 10 below with a -30 windchill is neither good for my fingers of my equipment.  I have lost entire nights of photos because it was too cold to focus the camera.

I am thinking of getting an actual telescope, right now I am working off of a DSLR with a large lens.  However if I got a larger camera I may also need to look at a new aiming setup.

Oh well, I think in a perfect world I would have a tiny house with an observatory on the roof.  Maybe once I get my butt out of school I can start working on that.

Oh, if you want to explore the photos a little bit....  Please note, because I screwed up when moving them down here the order is reversed.
